The State Engineer is charged with the licensing and regulating of all water well and related drilling in the State. The license exam consists of three parts:
In order for the applicant to get licensed, he must get a 70% or greater on the written exam and pass the POD test and oral exam to the satisfaction of the board.

NAC 534 - Regulations for Water Well and Related Drilling was codified and printed in June of 2006. Most of the comments DWR received regarding the new regulations have been positive. The Division has been more aggressive in dealing with non-licensed well drillers and illegal well drilling practices. Numerous letters were sent out asking for verification of drilling and plugging specifics. The licensed drillers are now required to obtain continuing education credits for each renewal period.
