The Water Rights Section of NDWR is responsible for reviewing and approving water rights applications, both new appropriations and existing water rights, as well as evaluating and responding to protests of applications, review and approval of subdivisions for water quantity, evaluation of domestic well credits and relinquishments, issuance of certificates on permitted water rights, conducting field investigations, processing requests for extensions of time, and water usage inventories on specified basins. The Water Rights Section of NDWR is also providing support for The Carson Water Subconservancy District on the AB380 program, which involves the retirement of water rights in the Truckee Carson Irrigation District (Newlands Project) to resolve protests by The Pyramid Lake Pauite Tribe.
