What is the State Engineer's role in the hearing?

The State Engineer is performing his statutory responsibility by remaining neutral, considering all the information presented at the hearing, and making a decision based on science, research and applicable laws.

I would like to talk to the State Engineer. May I?

Because the hearing is a quasi-judicial process, we ask that comments to the State Engineer be made during the time allotted for public comments. Members of the news media may refer to the State Engineer's statement from Sept. 5, 2006.

When will the State Engineer make a decision about the hearing?

A decision on this matter will be made at some point after the time period for public comment has ended. The State Engineer will take the time necessary to reach what he considers to be the correct decision. He will not speculate on a firm date for releasing his ruling.
