Notices

This fall, from September through November, staff from the Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR), Office of the State Engineer, will be conducting inspections of wells in the Humboldt River Region to ensure compliance with State Engineer’s Order No. 1251.

Order No. 1251, issued in 2015, requires the installation and maintenance of totalizing meters on all permitted wells within the hydrographic basins of the Humboldt River Region by February 1, 2016. These inspections will focus on permitted wells, excluding:

  • Domestic wells
  • Stockwater wells
  • Wells permitted for 5.0 acre-feet or less annually

The Order also mandates quarterly reporting of monthly meter readings for all wells subject to its requirements. The purpose of these meters and the associated reporting is to accurately track groundwater usage in the region. This data is critical for evaluating potential impacts to existing water rights and for supporting the sustainable management of the Humboldt River’s limited water resources.

Water right holders subject to the Order must submit Totalizing Meter Form 7001F to the Division’s Office. The form is available online at water.nv.gov or by emailing metersupport@water.nv.gov.

For more information, to review Order No. 1251, or to request Form 7001F by mail, please visit water.nv.gov or contact the NDWR office at (775) 684-2800.
