Notices

The Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR) will be conducting inspections of wells in the Humboldt River Region this July through November to ensure compliance with State Engineer’s Order No. 1251.

Order No. 1251, issued in 2015, requires the installation and maintenance of totalizing meters on all permitted wells within the hydrographic basins of the Humboldt River Region by February 1, 2016. These inspections will focus on permitted wells, and will not include:
•    Domestic wells
•    Stockwater wells
•    Wells permitted for 5.0 acre-feet or less annually

The Order also requires quarterly reporting of monthly meter readings for all wells subject to its provisions. Accurate meter data and consistent reporting is essential for tracking groundwater use in the Humboldt River Region. This information is critical for evaluating potential impacts to existing water rights and for supporting the sustainable management of the Humboldt River’s limited water resources.

Water right holders subject to the Order must submit Totalizing Meter Form 7001F to the Division’s Office. The form is available online at water.nv.gov or by emailing metersupport@water.nv.gov.

For more information, to review Order No. 1251, or to request Form 7001F by mail, please contact the NDWR office at (775) 684-2800.
